This glossary is a complete list of all assets that could impact the branding of your employee experience, depending on your deployment.
Do NOT create every asset listed in this glossary. Some assets listed in this glossary may not apply to your deployment.
For a checklist of which assets you need for your deployment and the asset requirements (width by height, file format, etc.) please reach out to your Engagement Manager. To minimize confusion between different deployments, the asset checklists are not available in the Knowledge Base but can be provided quickly by your Engagement Manager.
Configuration & Update Notes
The Glossary below refers to how the assets are configured. The short phrases are defined in more detail here:
- Configure in Studio - assets with this note can be configured in Studio at any time and changes take effect immediately. Access these assets in Studio under Configure Program > User Experience or Configure Program > Basics.
- Provide to SocialChorus Contact - these are assets that must be provided directly to your SocialChorus contact. Please allow 2-4 weeks for an update.
- Optional - these assets can be safely omitted and the default configuration is undetectable by your Members.

EXAMPLE(S) |
Accent ColorConfigure in Studio |
Location: accent elements throughout the employee experience such as the feed name, navigation elements, notification counts, and more. Also available as one of the color options for the Note content type in Planner. We recommend a bright color to provide some pop for the accented elements. Issue Examples:
|
EXAMPLES USE PINK ACCENT COLOR
SIGN IN BUTTON, NAVIGATION, BADGES, FEATURED BANNERS
MOBILE APP SIGN IN BUTTON - GOOD & BAD

Android App IconProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: the Android device screen and in the Google Play listing. The Android App Icon could be very similar to your Program Icon. |
See App Name for a screenshot of what app icons look like on the user's device. |
App Display NameProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: the App Store and Google Play listing. For the mobile app store listings, there is a special variant of your App Name called the App Display Name. The App Display Name is the name that users search for and see displayed in the mobile app stores. While we recommend that the names are similar, the App Name should be short (to fit on the user’s device screen) while the App Display Name must be unique from all other apps in the stores. For example, MGM Resorts used "LEO" as their App Name and "LEO by MGM Resorts" as the App Display Name. |

App Full DescriptionProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: the App Store and Google Play listing. If no description is provided, we will use the example. |

|
App KeywordsProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: the App Store listing. App Keywords improve App Store searchability. To improve searchability in the Google Play listing, please incorporate keywords into the App Full Description. |
App Keywords are not visible in the App Store. |
App NameProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: under the mobile app icon on the user's device. The App Name is the user's introduction to your single tenant mobile app and is a good way to set the stage for your users. Some companies incorporate the company name while others omit their company name to avoid confusion for their consumers in the app stores. Examples of creative names that hint at the company purpose or culture without using the company name: Carnival Cruise Lines - “First Mate”, AB InBev - “Cheers”, and Hilton Hotels - “Lobby Buzz”. If your organization only has one program, using the same name for the Program Name and the App Name will reinforce the branding. If you have multiple programs, your App Name should be distinct from your Program Names. The shorter the App Name (typically 3-10 characters), the more likely it will appear in full on user’s phones. Note though, results will vary based on device size and resolution. Your App Name can be anything, there is no requirement for it to be unique. See also App Display Name. |

App Short DescriptionProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: the Google Play listing. If no description is provided, we will use the example. See also App Full Description. |
EXAMPLE SHORT DESCRIPTION [App Name] is a better way to stay informed and connected with the [Organization Name] community. |
Appended HashtagOptional - Configure in Studio |
Location: share message when sharing to some social networks. The Appended Hashtag is automatically added to your user's share if the target social platform allows pre-populated text. The Appended Hashtag helps program users identify themselves as employees of your company. Note: some platforms do not allow pre-populated text. For example, Facebook requires the employee to add the hashtag manually due to platform policy. We encourage communicating directly and clearly with your Members about recommended hashtags. |
TWITTER WEB SHARE |
External Program HeaderOptional - Configure in Studio |
Location: center of the banner on public facing pages. Public facing pages includes articles or videos that were created within the program and set to shareable. The shared link will open a page that uses the Theme Color and External Program Header. The External Program Header is configured separately from the Program Header so that you can express different branding to non-Members. The External Program Header image can include transparency. If the External Program Header is not provided, your Program Name will be displayed instead. |
WEB EXPERIENCE OF SHARED ARTICLE |
FaviconOptional - Configure in Studio |
Location: in web browser tab for the web experience once a user has logged in (does not display on the web experience sign in page). The favicon can be in ICO or PNG file format. |
|
Google Play Feature GraphicProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: before the app screenshots on the Google Play store listing. Depending on device and app version, this image may not be displayed to some users. The Google Play Feature Graphic may look very similar to your Program Logo. Don't include any copy or important visual information near the borders of the asset - specifically near the bottom third of the frame. If adding text, use large font sizes. The graphic may be displayed alone without the app icon - so you may want to include the icon in the feature graphic. |
|
iOS App IconProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: iOS device screen and in the App Store listing. This icon could be very similar to your Program Icon. However, there are some different technical requirements. For optimal appearance, the iOS App Icon should be 72 dpi and in sRGB. Apple prohibits alpha channels or transparency. |
See App Name for a screenshot of what app icons look like on the user's device. |
Mobile App WallpaperConfigure in Studio |
Location: background of multiple pages in the mobile app including sign in, join now, feeds view, notifications, submit content, the menu page, and others depending on your mobile app version. For information about the initial launch page that says "Tap to Continue", please refer to the Splash Screen. Please select a high-resolution image without words, logos, or symbols. User devices vary in size, which means that the interface elements need to be able to lay over the wallpaper dynamically and sometimes the wallpaper itself will be cropped. The overlay text of the sign in and join now page will render in your Primary Color, but is otherwise not customizable. Your wallpaper should allow either white or black text to be legible. The Theme Color is sometimes used as an overlay on top of the mobile app wallpaper (version 4.0 onward), so the two should look good in combination. Issue Examples:
See also Accent Color, Primary Color, and Theme Color. |
EXAMPLE Using pink wallpaper, white primary color, pink accent, & purple theme color WALLPAPER, SIGN IN, & SUBMIT CONTENT (with purple overlay)
ISSUES: TEXT, LOGOS, HIGH CONTRAST
ISSUES: PRIMARY AND ACCENT ARE TOO SIMILAR TO THE WALLPAPER
|
Organization Name |
Location: sign in page of the mobile app experience and (if multiple programs are available) program selector. "Organization" at SocialChorus is the umbrella under which you have one or more programs. The Organization Name helps both members and SocialChorus staff identify your company, therefore it is usually simply your company name. The Organization Name will likely only ever appear to end-users in the mobile app sign in. As the Organization Name is your company name, it does not need to be modified unless your company name changes. Note that there are no image files associated with your organization. All image files are for your program(s). See also Organization Code. |
MOBILE APP SIGN IN |
Organization Code |
Location: FirstUp organization lookup. FirstUp mobile app users can look up their program in two ways: by Organization Code or their email. If there are multiple programs under your organization, the same Organization Code is used for all of the programs. The Organization Code is usually a variant of the Organization Name, though the Organization Code must be unique from all other codes in use at SocialChorus. Both the Organization Name and Organization Code are configured very early in your program's creation process and rarely altered. Changing the Organization Code is strongly discouraged as a change can compromise SSO configurations, links, bookmarks, and RSS Feeds that draw from the program. If an update is absolutely necessary, to initiate a code change process please contact support@socialchorus.com. |
FIRSTUP ORGANIZATION LOOKUP |
Primary ColorConfigure in Studio |
Location: all text on the mobile app sign in page. The Primary Color (white or black) should contrast with both the Mobile App Wallpaper from top to bottom (to keep the Organization Name, Program Name, and other text visible) and the Accent Color (so that the words Sign In or Join Now are visible). |

See Terms of Service. |
|
Program HeaderOptional - Configure in Studio |
Location: center of the banner on the web experience and mobile app (4.0 onward). This image will overlay the Theme Color and can include transparency. If using a dark Theme Color, we recommend a white Program Header with transparency. This should provide contrast with the Theme Color without complicating your branding. The Program Header may be between 200px and 500px wide, but 300px is recommended. If the Program Header is not provided, your Program Name will be displayed instead in light text. See also Theme Color. |
WEB EXPERIENCE (white Program Header with transparency over purple Theme Color)
MOBILE APP (white Program Header with transparency over purple Theme Color over purple Mobile App Wallpaper) |
Program IconConfigure in Studio |
Location: next to the Program Name in program content cards and other locations throughout the employee experience. This icon represents your program as it will appear throughout different platforms of the employee experience. We recommend making an image that includes as little whitespace as possible, as this image is often displayed as small as 35px x 35px. Transparency is accepted for the Program Icon. The Program Icon is a separate asset from the iOS App Icon and Android App Icon. Updating the app icons requires a new mobile app build. The Program Icon can be updated at any time and will only affect the user's experience inside the program. |

ASSISTANT AND RESOURCES PAGES
|
Program LogoConfigure in Studio |
Location: The sign in and join now pages of the web experience. The Program Logo helps users identify which company and program they are signing into. You can use this asset to express your company branding, the program's name, and more. |
WEB EXPERIENCE SIGN IN |
Program NameConfigure in Studio
|
Location: throughout the employee experience and in email campaigns such as sign in pages, headers, emails, as the author of content, and more. The Program Name that you select will set the tone for your communications platform, so choose the Program Name carefully. Be thoughtful about your goals and incorporate that vision into your Program Name. Imagine you or your employees talking about your program. Here at SocialChorus we often say, "it's posted in SC Now!" If you have more than one program, take into consideration how the names distinguish the programs from each other while still establishing an identity for each program individually. We recommend not changing the Program Name if possible, as the Program Name is the cornerstone of your program's branding. |

ScreenshotsProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: The App Store and Google Play listing. These screenshots show users in the public app stores what your app is like and should entice them to join. However, please keep the public-facing nature of the screenshots in mind.Considerations:

GOOGLE PLAY LISTING |
Splash ScreenProvide to SocialChorus Contact |
Location: in the single-tenant mobile app, background of the initial launch screen which says "Tap to Continue" and (if multiple programs are available) background of program select. The Splash Screen can only be updated with a new build of your mobile app. Any text that appears on the Splash Screen is auto-generated and uses a light color. The exact positioning of the text will vary by device size. The wording and color cannot be customized. For the Splash Screen we recommend a solid color that will contrast well with light-colored text. Consider using a neutral color that will not conflict with possible changes to your branding. While they have similar image requirements, the Splash Screen is a unique asset that is configured separately from the Mobile App Wallpaper. |

Terms of ServiceConfigure in Studio |
Location: accessible to users during and after registration. The SocialChorus Platform Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are automatically added to your platform. If you want to customize the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, there are two options:
Note: each program is configured individually if you have multiple programs. The SocialChorus Terms of Service and Privacy Policy can be referred to as an example. If you need a physical copy of the documents for your legal team to review, please navigate to the links below and print the web pages:
Users accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy when joining the program - "By creating an account you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy". Users may see the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy presented in slightly different ways depending on the version of the program, whether SSO is enabled, and the environment (web experience or mobile app). However, in all versions and environments, the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are always available for review after fully registering. In the mobile app, navigate to Settings > About, in the web experience look for the links below the navigation bar on the left. |

WEB EXPERIENCE
MOBILE APP |
Theme ColorConfigure in Studio |
Location: Banner of the web experience, public-facing pages, and mobile app (4.0 onward). Also available as one of the color options for the Note content type in Planner. The Theme Color is used in the banner of your web experience and mobile app (4.0 onward). Use a dark color for your Theme Color. The buttons that appear in the web banner are always light-colored. Using a dark Theme Color allows enough contrast to see the buttons. The Theme Color should go with your overall branding, but also not be distracting for users browsing on the web or mobile app. Note: the Theme Color is overlaid on top of both the Web Wallpaper and Mobile App Wallpaper. If you use complementary colors such as blue and yellow, they may combine to create an undesired third color (green). Consider using similar, possibly even the same, colors for the Theme Color and the wallpapers. See also Program Header, External Program Header, Web Wallpaper, and Mobile App Wallpaper. |
EXAMPLES USE PURPLE THEME COLOR MOBILE APP (Theme Color overlaid on Mobile App Wallpaper) WEB EXPERIENCE BANNER (Program Header overlaid on Theme Color) WEB EXPERIENCE DISCOVER PAGE (Theme Color overlaid on Web Wallpaper)
|
Tracking Hashtags |
Location: not visible to Members or Studio users, not used by platform. Tracking Hashtags are a deprecated feature, they have no impact. Do not configure. |
Tracking Hashtags are not visible. |
Web WallpaperConfigure in Studio |
Location: The sign in and join now pages of the web experience. The Web Wallpaper is responsive and stretches to fit the user's device, so keep in mind that users may not see the entire image. See also Theme Color. |
WEB EXPERIENCE
|
Welcome VideoOptional - Configure in Studio |
Location: In the web experience the video is displayed as an overlay until closed. In the mobile app experience the video is at the top of My Feed after the user registers. The video persists at the top of the feed until acknowledged. Use the Welcome Video to communicate a vision for the program, share compliance information, and/or highlight details about how to use your program. The video must be publicly accessible, though it can be an unlisted video on Vimeo or YouTube (Kaltura and other video hosting sites are not supported). After pasting the link to the video you can click Preview to watch the video in Studio. If you are not able to host the video publicly, consider publishing a video post to My Feed with a Require campaign instead. The downside to this option is that more recent content can push the video post down the feed and out of visibility. |
