Image Ratios
In general, an image with a 2:1 landscape ratio (800 pixels wide x 400 pixels tall) will tend to look the best across endpoints (such as email, web, mobile, or content amplifier).
SocialChorus makes automatic adjustments to images to try to make them appear as great as possible across different devices. The exact displayed dimension of any specific post’s image will depend on a combination of content type, endpoint, template, user device, and even the image’s original ratio.
Due to the number of variables involved in how an image is displayed, some cropping will always occur. There are no two places where an image is presented in exactly the same ratio. How a cropped image is centered will vary as we have content-aware cropping. The content-aware cropping helps avoid cut-off faces, but may result in unexpected centering of a cropped image.
While you can upload images of nearly any size, to minimize resolution issues we recommend a minimum of 400 pixels for the shortest height or width.
File Size and Formats
Image Files
For post images, we support image files up to 5 MB. Please ensure your file is smaller than 5 MB for a successful upload, but we do recommend a minimum height and width of 400 pixels.
GIF Files
Generally, you can upload or insert GIF files wherever you can upload or insert image files. We have found that GIF files embedded in the body of article posts tend to work across the platforms (Studio, web experience, mobile app). However, we have found that GIF files that are the header image of a post fail to load for users in their feed. Therefore, due to a combination of file sizes and network issues, we cannot assure that a GIF will load for all users.
Videos
When uploading a video, the file should be smaller than 500 MB and in MOV, MP4, or AVI format. If you can optimize or compress the video to a smaller size, that will make the upload and processing go faster. Please keep your mobile app users in mind - larger files will be hard to load over some data connections.
Character Count Limits
As users are on a variety of devices, your users will all have different screen sizes. Both SocialChorus and the platform (iPhone, Android, web browser) will wrap text or hide text behind an ellipses (“...”). We have features such as “... more” so that users can expand the text. However, if you would like to minimize the appearance of “...” as much as possible, this table outlines the number of characters that fit on most screens:
