Customer Issue
When searching in the Employee Experience, old content appears at the top of the search results and the rest appears in random order.
Environment
- Employee Experience - Web and Mobile
Issue Details
Searches are currently ordered first by relevance (word matches; introduced based on customer feedback) and then by recency (most recent first).
The sort order is:
- Score (descending) - Score is how well the post matches the query. A match in the title is worth 5 times as much as a match in the body.
- If posts are tied by score, then we sort by Published At (descending).
This can be inconvenient if a user is trying to find a recent post.
Resolution
When publishing content, optimize for searchability by including keywords in the title.
Developers are discussing giving users greater control by selecting whether to sort by, for example, relevance or publish date. This functionality would be added in a future release.
