Customer Issue
When I try to sign in to Studio, I get the error:
The user does not have a sufficient role to access the application.
Environment
- Studio - Sign In
Issue Details
An issue has been identified where a user who signs out of Studio and then tries to sign back in gets the error The user does not have a sufficient role to access this application. This error is referring to the user's role with the SSO identity provider and not their Studio role.
One cause is the code put in place to restrict non-manager roles from logging into the new Studio, which is accidentally affecting Classic Studio also, when using IAM for SSO logins. This does not happen on someone’s first login (when their session is first created), but only on subsequent logins (when their session already exists).
Resolution
This issue can usually be resolved by the affected user by clearing their browser cookies, or by signing in using a private/incognito browser session. If this fails to restore Studio access, please contact Support.
A hotfix has now been deployed. The issue should now be resolved for all users who were encountering this issue because their role was analyst, publisher, or channel contributor. It is still possible that there are other scenarios that could cause the “User does not have a sufficient role” message to show up, but this should now be fixed for the cases we are aware of.
