Sometimes a post stops being relevant content for users. At any time a post can be archived. If the post becomes relevant again, then the post can be restored from the archived state.
What Does Archive Do?
Member View
If the post was visible to a Member, Archive will make the post disappear from the member view. This includes everywhere that the post may have been visible - Latest, within Topics, Bookmarks, etc.
Studio View
On the Planner page archived posts are listed under the Archived status filter. Anyone with access to the Publish section of Studio can look at archived posts at any time by selecting Archived from the Status dropdown. Move to Draft, Copy to New [Content Type], Preview, and Delete are all available options from the quick editor on the right that launches after clicking on a post once.
