For more information about Questions in general, including editing questions or archive, please refer to the Questions In The User Registration Experience article.
The answers to dropdown questions auto-populate generated groups. Generated groups can be used to target campaigns and topics.
Note, if you have access to user data from an external data source such as location and department in an HR system, we highly recommend using custom attributes to automatically segment users into groups. Using custom attributes will keep user data in sync between Firstup and your other systems.
If you do not have access to the desired data from other systems, you can use dropdown questions to let users self-select into groups. For example, if you want to group users by language, ask "What language do you prefer to read in?"
Each answer to a dropdown question will have a unique group named as follows:
Format: <Answer> (<Question Title> Question)
Example: Spanish (Language Question)
When creating a dropdown question, consider the following:
- Question Title - as this helps generate the group name, we recommend a short name such as Language, Team, or Location.
- Choices - when listing possible answers, an answer can be one or more words, but should be kept short. For example, the following provides three possible answers:
United States
Canada
Mexico
