You may have noticed that a single number, such as Engagement Rate, does not seem to be exactly the same between the Legacy Dashboard/Reports and other reports under Analyze. We are working to fully replace the Legacy Dashboard and Reports. In the meantime, this article helps to explain some of the differences.
With the release of Analyze, we have deployed a new data source. The new data source is faster, which allows us to visualize more data than ever. The new data source has also opened up a whole new world of filters. And lastly, the new data source is more comprehensive than the old data source. For example, we can now track user activity in email and push notifications. However, some parts of our platform such as the Legacy Dashboard are not counting these new events and may not have exactly the same filters applied. Therefore, metrics such as Impressions, Clicks, and Engagement may look different in Analyze and the Legacy Dashboard.
We have also adjusted how we frame the data in Analyze, using unique counts instead of total counts. We want our reports to be focused on the impact of your communications. "Total" metrics are easily skewed by highly active users. Unique counts help you understand how many individuals have been reached or engaged by a given post, topic, or initiative.
We have also introduced some new vocabulary, such as "Viewers". This helps us present data with a focus on impact. Viewers, for example, focuses on users that have actually seen content. The old term, "Active Users", included users that entered the platform but did not see any content (perhaps they signed in and looked at their profile, then exited). All new terms are documented in our Measure Glossary.
In addition, the different places that you see data may be syncing with the underlying data at different rates. Please allow Analyze up to 1 hour before contacting Support regarding unexpected numbers.
